Hit for Six
Curse, blast & damn it! Managed to get through the last three chemotherapy cycles without serious problems. A number of more minor yukkies, yes; there's not a lot enjoyable in the process. Now I've bloody well picked up an URTI and am worried it'll go the way of the first one back in May (see Febrile Neutropenia (1)).

After some earlier nondescript erkinesses, on Thursday I developed definite symptoms. Kept checking temperature as well as trying the usual home remedies for cold-type viruses. Naturally the weather kept getting worse. By the time I'd decided a quick trip up to the Emergency Department for observation & prevention was advisable, & packed some bare necessities, the cold snap had turned into a thunderstorm. Again my precious & beloved friends came to my rescue & took me in their car, and one stayed for some hours while the medical people decided what to do, which meant them going home in the rain.

Anyway, it looks like it was caught early enough, so before the next sunset I was able to be discharged & sent home to treat myself, with warning symptoms to look out for. Back to lots of garlic, warmth, fluids, rest, inhalents. Hope I can get back to work next week — ready to start the radiotherapy in a couple of weeks' time...
